Erasers and Fridge Magnets in Food Form
Recommended age group: 5 years
and older.
Scented and unscented erasers (rubbers) that look like food are
particular hazards to children under 3 years.
They have three serious problems:
- Choking hazards – being small, they easily fit into a child's
mouth but still large enough to catch in the throat if swallowed.
- Toxic materials - some erasers contain toxic material.
- Appearance or smell – the shape, color and smell of scented
erasers can make them attractive to children who have trouble
distinguishing them from real food.
Some refrigerator magnets come in shapes that look like small
fruits that make them attractive to younger children who thought
these are real things. They could splinter if chewed and if
swallowed the metal magnet could be a choking and toxic hazard. Keep
them out of reach of young children.
