Cubby Houses and Tents
Recommended age group: 2 years and older.
It is important that cubby houses are located in places that can be
supervised by an adult, not on isolated sites away from home.
Never leave doors or lids secured to unused refrigerators for it can
suffocate children if become trapped inside.
The doors of the cubby house must be able to open from the inside to
avoid trapping precautions. The gap at the hinged side of the doors
should be less than 5mm or more than 12mm, so that a child's fingers
will not be caught or crushed in.
Cubby houses and tents must have holes for adequate ventilation. Some of
the ventilation openings should remain unblocked when the cubby is
placed against the wall.
