
Building Set
Recommended age group: 2 years and older for blocks and
nesting cubes and 4 years and older for building and construction sets.
Small Parts
When you buy toys for children below 3 years old, don’t include toys
with parts small enough be swallowed. i.e. parts that fit into a 35mm
film canister can choke a child under 3 years old.
Paints and undercoats
Paints, lacquers, undercoats or finishing coats must be non-toxic.
Don’t buy painted toys if the label does not specify that the paints are
non-toxic.
Instructions
Written instructions must be clear and understandable. It is still
better to have someone play with the child to demonstrate the use of
building sets.
Construction
Plastic pieces should be durable and not brittle. They should not
leave sharp edges or point that could cut if they break.
Wooden pieces should be a soft type not likely to splinter if chewed and
they must have smooth surfaces and edges.
Metal pieces must have smooth finished edges, ends and corners.
Keep away small pieces like nuts, bolts, hooks and screws from
unsupervised younger children as they can be easily swallowed.
Metal axles and shafts are a cutting and stubbing hazards and must not
be accessible to unsupervised children.
