Bows and Arrows
Recommended age group: 6 years and older.
These projectile toys are linked with many injuries to children. Always
supervise the children playing with bows and arrows, and warn them not
to fire at or near others.
The shaft of arrows or similar toys like spears and darts must have:
- A permanently attached protective tip.
- A blunted front end attached with a protective tip.
Protective tips must be firmly attached to the shaft and not form a
dangerous point. Choose bows that cannot launch improvised projectiles
such as pencils or other materials that can be shaped into a dangerous
"arrow".
Never allow young children to play with adults' darts. Keep the souvenir
bows, arrows or spears out of reach of children.
